What You’ll Do

The Culture & Strategy Division is seeking a motivated individual to join the team as the Equity, Engagement & Inclusion Intern.  As part of the DEN Chief of Staff portfolio, the Culture & Strategy Division is responsible for leading DEN’s efforts in the following areas impacting the entire organization, including our stakeholders: (1) Vision 100 Strategic Plan and performance measurement; (2) Equity, Engagement & Inclusion; (3) Continuous Improvement; (4) Employee Wellness Program; (5) Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) Program Administration; (6) Business Learning & Development; and (6) Strategic Outreach & Engagement.  As part of the Culture & Strategy Division, the Equity, Engagement & Inclusion team leads DEN’s efforts in developing and implementing Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI).

As an intern you will get to experience:

  • Assisting with efforts to ensure and improve an equitable and accessible experience for all of our customers and passengers
  • Learning more about best practices in accessibility and providing services for our disability community
  • Helping resolve customer questions and complaints, in partnership with our airlines and other vendors at DEN
  • Supporting implementing Language Access initiatives, helping those for whom language is not a primary language access DEN services
  • Assisting the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) team in implementing initiatives that aim to increase awareness of EDI concepts and strategies to ensure equitable practices across the airport
  • Working with the Employee Engagement Committee (EEC) to plan, coordinate and deliver initiatives the support engagement with employees across the airport.

About You

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:

  • Pursuing a degree in social sciences, human resources, or other related fields
  • Interest in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Accessibility concepts, and a desire to learn more about how they apply to aviation
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Desire to work collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving assigned tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Requirement:  Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion). 
  • Experience: None 
  • Education and Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted. 
  • License/Certification Requirement:  None

Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model with a required min 3 days in office. Employees work where needed to support business, at the Denver International Airport. We do not offer housing or relocation assistance for this position.

Internship Duration and Hours:

This is a 6 month college internship with a completion date of December 31st, 2024 with a max of 39 hours a week.

FBI Background Check

FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
