DEN’s Division of Real Estate supports the airport’s core aviation mission by capitalizing on DEN’s size, opportunity for growth and centralized location to create innovative, sustainable, and economically beneficial commercial development of the airport’s non-aviation land. With approximately 16,000 acres available for development, DEN Real Estate supports economic development and creates opportunities for real estate developers, investors, and tenants. DEN Real Estate is a dynamic department and intersects with multiple departments at the city and airport. With the Real Estate Team, you will experience:
Working on a large-scale mapping project for the largest airport ecosystem in world, developing a resource for public and private stakeholders
Working in the public sector for a large organization that contributes over $36.4 billion to the state’s economy and supports over 220,000 jobs
Understanding the myriad of agreements that pertain to airport real estate, and why they are important to airport operations and development on non-aviation land
Researching and identifying land encumbrances (i.e. utility and access agreements), lease agreements, memorandums of understanding and working with others to integrate their research into a Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping database
Coordinating and interacting with multiple stakeholders from different departments, including legal, planning, engineering, survey, and GIS/mapping
Developing processes to share real estate information across the airport ecosystem
Exposure to real estate transactions, negotiations, and marketing efforts
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
General understanding of GIS
Skills in understanding real estate agreements and their purpose
Ability to manage the pressure of coordinating multiple calls, inquires and tasks
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Proactive outreach to colleagues with questions and requests
Maintaining a positive attitude
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education: Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion)
Education and Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model with a required minimum of three days in office. Employees work where needed to support business, at the Denver International Airport. We do not offer housing or relocation assistance for this position.
Internship Duration and Hours
This is a 10-week college internship with an expected start date of June 3, 2024, and a completion date of August 9, 2024.
FBI Background Check
FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
