An
internship in Denver International Airport's Engineering Section allows college
students to participate in the day-to-day engineering operations at one of the
world’s largest airports. The opportunity provides useful, practical, hands-on
experience that can enhance understanding of architecture, engineering or construction.
Successful candidates work with airport project managers and administrators to
develop a proactive mentoring relationship that benefits interns as well as airport
staff. The Engineering Internship program at DIA accommodates three paid intern
positions
Three-month Summer Program
Professional Occupations Intern I (college
freshmen). This position requires completion of a minimum of six semester
hours from an accredited college. The student must currently
be studying mechanical, electrical, civil or structural engineering,
architecture or construction.
Professional Occupations Intern II
(college sophomores or juniors). This position requires the completion
of a minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited college. The
student must currently be studying mechanical, electrical, civil or
structural engineering, architecture or construction.
Six-month Program
Professional Occupations Intern III.
This position requires completion of a minimum of 120 semester hours
from an accredited college and is intended for recently graduated students
who posses a bachelor's degree and are currently studying for a master's
degree in one of the following fields: mechanical, electrical, civil
or structural engineering, architecture or construction.

An internship in Airport Operations and Security at Denver International Airport allows an intern the opportunity to participate in the day-to-day operations of a large airport. This internship provides useful, practical, hands-on experience and applies aviation knowledge to an actual airport environment. The Operations/Security Internship program at DIA accommodates two six-month paid intern positions. The internships run from January 1 to June 30 and from July 1 to December 31.

The applicant filling this position will be assigned to the Airport Public Safety and Security Division to perform essential job duties, while receiving field training in the fundamentals of large airport operations in the Airside Operations Section at DIA. The following are some of the duties:
- Manage DIA's Always Challenge Everyone (ACE) incentive-based Airport ID
Badge display program
- Meet and work with airline representatives to solicit support for ACE Challenge
tests
- Conduct security inspections and provide administrative support to the
agency support technician responsible for outlying building security
- Conduct monthly airport security meetings
- Complete "primary" training in the airport security section and assist
as needed
- Process Violation Notices under the direction of the program manager
- Work on special projects as assigned by the security management personnel
Interns also have the opportunity to train with the following units at DIA:

- Denver Police
- Denver Fire
- Communications Center

The City Attorney’s Airport Legal Services Section represents the Department
of Aviation in matters relating to Denver International Airport and the former
Stapleton International Airport. Airport Legal Services handles the City's
aviation-related matters which include litigation, contracts, claims, environmental
compliance, real estate matters, finance issues, rule-making matters, Open
Records Act matters, and other matters involving aviation and general municipal
law.

This is an un-paid position. An internship in the Airport Legal Services Office at Denver International Airport provides second- or third-year law students an opportunity to participate in the day-to-day practice of law at one of the world’s largest airports. The program provides useful, practical, hands-on experience that can enhance understanding of aviation and municipal law. Successful candidates work with senior attorneys at the airport and interact with airport project managers and administrators to develop a proactive mentoring relationship that benefits interns as well as attorneys and airport staff.
The Airport Legal Services Internship program at DIA can accommodate one summer and one fall Intern: The summer program begins in mid-May and ends in mid-August. The fall program begins in mid-September and ends in mid-December.

Legal Intern three credit hours (second- or third-year law students). This
position requires completion of a minimum of 45 semester hours from an accredited
law school. The student must be currently studying for a Juris Doctor
degree with an expressed interest in one of the following fields: aviation
law, municipal law, transportation law, contract law, environmental law, real
estate transactions and land disposition, or administrative law.

The applicants filling these positions will be assigned to the City Attorney’s Airport Legal Services Office at Denver International Airport to perform essential job duties while receiving in-office training in the fundamentals of legal work. The following are some of the duties:
- Research legal issues and prepare written legal briefs in various areas of aviation and municipal law
- Attend ALS staff meetings
- Observe the attorney/client relationship first-hand by participating in the day-to-day process of advising Aviation staff
- Prepare written reports; assist with investigation of claims and preparing documentation
- Prepare letters, memos or forms related to legal advice given to Aviation staff
